2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs 2018 Lexus IS

Serving North Olmsted, Westlake, and Cleveland, OH

Many Americans drive small, luxurious sporty cars, and the best are fun-to-drive, stylish and feature-laden. This describes two leaders in this segment, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the 2018 Lexus IS. The C-Class comes in two- and four-door models, while the IS is strictly a four-door sedan. We invite you to test-drive both, because we’re confident you’ll choose the C-Class for its solidity, value and performance.

Base Level Performance

The base-level C 300 comes with a 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine making 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, matched to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The IS base engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine, also with 241 horsepower but only 258 lb-ft of torque and an 8-speed automatic. Both models ride on 17-inch tires, and both are available as rear-wheel drive vehicles.

Choices

You can get both models as sedans, but only the Mercedes-Benz comes also as a two-door coupe or cabriolet. The C 300 Coupe gives you blind-spot monitoring and a rearview camera. The Cabriolet gives you these feature plus the Airscarf system to keep you warm on cold days with the top down, and also an automatic trunk separator. If you are a fan of hybrid vehicles, the C 350e is available with 275 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Lexus doesn’t offer an IS hybrid model.

Features

The base C-Class comes with standard features that are optional or not available on the base Lexus IS. These features include run-flat tires, genuine wood trim, front power memory seats, front dual power headrests, front power lumbar support, remote trunk release, front airbag deactivation via Child Seat Detection System, memory adjustable exterior mirrors, rain sensor wipers and locking fuel filler door. C 300 options not available on the base IS include electronic trunk lid, power sunshade on roof and leather seats.
